To use Latinitas you need a Macintosh Plus or later with a hard drive. This version of Latinitas has vocabulary and grammatical concepts keyed to Wheelock, Ecce Romani, Cambridge Latin Course and Oxford Latin Course. For on-line help, press the button that looks like a question mark while you are using Latinitas.
This program is designed to give Latin students practice in identifying words as they really appear on the printed page: in just about any other declension/conjugation than the standard dictionary form. Latinitas first randomly looks up a noun, adjective or verb suited to your level and then inflects it unpredictably, limiting itself to the declensions and degrees or moods and tenses at that level. Once you have grammatically described the word, Latinitas evaluates your answers. It then allows you to make corrections and be re-evaluated.
Latinitas offers 5 or 6 different levels of difficulty corresponding to the the end of a given chapter or book in your text series. Latinitas limits the grammatical topics and the vocabulary to fit that point in the course. The current level of difficulty is indicated during the quiz by the Level pop-up button at the bottom left of Latinitas. Latinitas will use vocabulary from the beginning of the text up to the end of the specified chapter; but it will apply only the grammatical concepts learnt up to that point.
